Forget heartthrob, this is a major girl crush. Cara Delevingne, born in London, England on 12 August 1992, is the latest aristocrat of the fashion industry. Granddaughter of former English Heritage boss Sir Jocelyn Steven, also the founder of the 60s pirate radio station, Radio Caroline, she grew up in finery in London’s Mayfair. Her family can be linked to other famous families such as the Jaggers.
Cara started her modelling career at age 17, her natural blond hair, blue eyes and dark eyebrows caught the attention of fashion designers and photographers, earning her an easy passage to the fashion industry’s extravagant runways.
This gem has been named one of London’s most influential people of 2011 in the category of “Most Invited” by the Evening Standard and won Model Of The Year 2012 at the British Fashion Awards. She is the face of some big fashion names such as H&M, Chanel and is the latest face of Burberry, gracing the covers of magazines such as Interview, Russh, i-D and Vogue. She also had a small part in the 2012 film adaptation of Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, as Princess Sorokina, the marriage interest of Count Vronsky (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson).
Not only are we infatuated with Cara’s sharp eyebrows and blushy skin, but we are in love with her edgy hipster style. Despite sporting the latest street trends like cutoff denims, camo, vertical striped leggings and the oh-so-cool beanies, this girl also knows how to rock a couture evening gown with style.
As the new “It Girl” of young Hollywood, Cara is often spotted out with her famous older sister, Poppy Delevingne, at fashion parties and photographed with celebrities such as Rihanna and Pixie Geldolf. Her best friend is Rita Ora and they call each other “wifey.” The two of them can also be seen striking a series of sexy poses in edgy couture outfits for the remix video of Rita’s bass-heavy track Facemelt taken from her debut album Ora. The promo was made by legendary photographer Rankin in association with Hunger magazine.
With one of goofiest personalities in fashion, Cara Delevigne is definitely one to follow whether it be on Instagram, Twitter(@Caradelevingne) or on her blog page (iamcaradelevingne).
If you’re looking for the fashion industry’s next best thing, Cara Delevingne is one girl to watch!
